Since opening our doors in 1999, we have been dedicated to combating harassment and discrimination wherever we see it. Working in the US, we have fought against widespread workplace discrimination in some of the most powerful companies in the world and worked with universities to improve their compliance with the federal Title IX obligations. In the UK we have worked on behalf of those who have experienced harassment, discrimination and unfair treatment as well as fighting against the tidal wave of revenge pornography which has recently become so prominent.
We are supporting the inaugural Clear Lines Festival in London - a series of events discussing sexual assault and consent through the medium of performing arts, spoken word, talks, panels and presentations. and urge you to join us - tickets are available here.
Georgina Calvert-Lee is Senior Counsel at McAllister Olivarius and previously the chief litigator at AO Advocates, our sister firm representing survivors of child sexual abuse. Through her work focusing on employment and discrimination law, Georgina has seen the taboo surrounding harassment and will work with attendees at the Clear Lines Festival to explore the patterns and language of sexual harassment, and what we can do to incite positive change.
Halla Gunnarsdóttir is Senior Advisor at McAllister Olivarius, one of the few law firms specialising in revenge pornography and previously worked as Political Advisor to the Minister of the Interior of Iceland, where she was responsible for policy making and implementation in the field of justice and human rights. Halla will address some of the issues that have come up in the search for the right legal approach and seek to spark discussions about the next steps in the fight against this emerging form of violence.
